Power of HOPE Community Organization, a not-for-profit in Waterloo/Wellington and Woodstock, collects gently used stuffed toys, new pyjamas, towels, blankets, socks, mittens, scarves, housecoats, as well as unopened toiletries, secondhand (good condition) winter coats and other much needed items.
Each year, the organization runs a Pyjama & Stuffed Toy drive, packages the items collected and donates them to agencies (such as women’s shelters, food banks and crisis centres) in the community who in turn give them to families in need at Christmas time.
Pyjamas in all sizes are collected, for men, women and children, and carefully matched up with other items, such as a stuffed toy for young children, blanket for teens, and a toiletry item for men and women, as well as other items such as tooth brush, socks or mittens.
Although their Christmas campaign continues till November 30th, you are invited to join them on Sunday, November 18th, 2012 at the Healthy Choices Wellness Show where you can drop off your donations and help them build a Mountain of HOPE.
For more information about the show visit the Healthy Choices website.
If you can’t make the show, you can contact the organization and arrange to have your items collected by one of the organization’s volunteers.Visit Power of HOPE’s website for more information about the organization, who it helps, items needed and for contact information.
