More About The Magazine

More about Powerful Women Magazine

Edited and published by Kaz Design Works, a desktop publishing company located in Cambridge, Ontario, the magazine is primarily aimed at business women, female entrepreneurs and career women in Waterloo, Wellington, surrounding counties and beyond. Published four times a year, in March, June, September and December, and available online as well as in print, the magazine can be read by women (and men) across the globe 24/7, 365 days per year.

The idea for the magazine came when publisher, Karen Coleman, CEO of Kaz Design Works, realized there was a need for a medium in which local business women could promote their businesses as well as share their expertise and experiences with others who are about to embark on a similar journey. A medium in which women considering starting a new business, and those who have recently started their own company, can find useful information, advice and inspiration from others who have already met, challenged and overcome challenges on their journey to success: business women helping business women.

Karen, who has worked in the publishing industry for almost two decades, had for a long time wanted to publish her own magazine but had never found the right subject matter or audience. Until now.

First Issue of Powerful Women Spring 2010As a small business owner, networking with other like-minded female entrepreneurs, Karen understands first hand the struggles they face when building their business from the ground up, especially during an economic down turn.

Through the magazine, she hopes to offer the opportunity for successful business women, who have met, challenged and overcome obstacles as they’ve grown their business or pursued their career, to inform, inspire and ignite the passion for success in other women about to embark on a similar journey.

Karen believes that all women have the power within them to achieve anything they desire; that by focussing on their goals, believing in themselves and accepting help when they need it, they will be able to meet, challenge and overcome all obstacles on their journey to success.

Karen’s dream was to publish a magazine; and by focussing on her goal, believing in herself and accepting help from her network of business colleagues and friends, she has not only achieved her dream but through?Powerful Women Magazine she hopes others will be inspired to achieve their own dreams.

Karen knows that there will always be struggles and obstacles in everything we strive for, whether in business or in life itself, and that without them their would be no progress or sense of achievement, which would make success pointless.

Her goal for the magazine is for the many Powerful Women she knows, and is yet to meet, to share their expertise and experiences with other business women, future entrepreneurs, business owners and career women, to help them overcome struggles and obstacles that they may face on their journey to success.
